Product Review - Online Backup - OPENRSM CloudBackup

?Introduction:

OPENRSM CloudBackup is a service that lets you store files and backup data securely to a almost unlimited backup to internet vault. Unlike other services, OPENRSM CloudBackup  has no minimum and no maximum amount of data you can store. You pay a flat fee (which get’s you a BIG datastore) and only pay extra for the actual storage you use in excess of that.  It works the same on Windows, MAC, and Linux systems as well.

The CloudBackup volume can be accessed as a network disk, or using your browser.), over WebDav or via the local http server. CloudBackup’s default cache (1G, adjustable) gives immediacy to most operations while making changes in the background. The builtin backup utility works well and previous versions are kept if desired. This makes CloudBackup best for backup as well as a remote filesystem since it works with tools like robocopy, rsync, etc.  Block level incremental backup is supported through CloudBackup.

Cool Features

  • Facilitates worry-free, automatic backups
  • Keeps your data safe
  • Unlimited storage at per GB pricing. No complex math. No maximum limits
  • Supports multiple systems
  • Offers backup reporting to keep you informed
  • Works just like a disk
  • Provides online backup and storage for each computer you own.  Servers, Desktops, Notebooks

Who it’s for:

Due to the versitility of CloudBackup automated backup, accessing files from anywhere, and more is possible. The interface is very intuitive and the setup is just as easy than most other programs. And CloudBackup delivers ease of use for all levels of users that need safe, secure backup (and that’s everyone, isn’t it) or share files remotely without being restricted like others do.  Or, like me… BOTH. So the mapped drive looks just like any other network drive. And all your applications and utilities function seamlessly. You can set it, forget it, and let the scheduler backup all changed files.

Good Features:

Set it and forget it backups. Set up the automatic backup and you no longer have to worry about disk failures or data safety. Minimal bandwith use. It only updates changed bytes (instead of entire files) and buffers it with it’s internal cache.  So bandwidth use is limited after the first backup. Fine grained control that’s simple to manage. Options settings for limiting bandwidth, saving previous versions, and detailed logging. You can get dirty if you want but I hardly ever needed to access the manual. Works with your existing software and systems. The network drive can be used like a local disk. I use QuickBooks, AbiWord, and other software to use the network drive and it’s perfect. It’s also terrific for setting your collaborative software (wikiedit, etc.) to use it., to use the Network Drive. And it doesn’t make any difference if you’ve a Computer, a MAC, or a Linux machine (or a whole network of them)… It’s secure, reliable, and just simply works.

Possible Downers

Depends on your internet connection. Inherent to CloudBackup is your broadband connection. If you’ve restriced use limits on your broadband connection then your first backup might push it.However, you can set your backup to specific times and limit bandwidth use independently. But, with bandwidth limiting and efficient bandwidth use this really isn’t an issue. It has to be said I guess I’m always open to do almost the same for cheaper or free. CloudBackup is priced for economy while sporting features others just don’t have.

Why I reccomend it:

It’s one of the ideal solutions to have safe, secure, and painless backup with remote access for your work or home. Together, it’s like the killer app of all time. Add the extreme flexibility and I heartily recommend this with no qualms.  Paying a small monthly fee to have his peace of mind is worth it for me.

How it Fares:

  • OPENRSM CloudBackup has more space and reliability than a local backup.
  • Files are still available for all processes with full functionality unlike other solutions.
  • The backup to world wide web function is as good as local backup solutions.
  • Your own backup or sync software can still be used even if you don’t really need to since the backup intervals can be set from every five minutes to once a week.

Conclusions:

CloudBackup is an affordable, flexible, powerful, and reliable data storage solution which can be used for many purposes. I’ve to recommend it unless your on a horribly slow connection to the web or your data isn’t important to you.  Solutions that do half the job for less might be available but I havn’t found them.  OPENRSM CloudBackup is simply incredible and makes life easier for my home and business computers.
